The Georgia Debate Union has produced a letter for high schools to use while recruiting students to their debate teams.
It emphasizes the benefits of debate, including for college admissions, research skills, travel, and fun.

Mason, great fan of Volunteer Traditions. Had a conversation about y’all with the fellas at Wm. King in Johnson City not very long ago. All good things, I assure you.And that last sentence sums up everything I love about being an SEC football fan. If you can stand the humiliation of dining with your conquerors, or you can dole out a few “Y’all had us beat on that 4th and goal, it was a miracle we stopped it…” to soothe the conquered ego, you’re (for the most part) welcomed anywhere regardless of the color of your pants.But shouting Rammer Jammer at thousands of dejected people as they are forced to endure it ain’t bad either.Mrs. Fontenot, fine work, per usual.

I hope there will be a nice video next with Casey and the gang talking about these same points so students can email the link to cohorts, school administrators, and the like.
Also, I hope UGA Debate would put together a DVD collection that would serve as a supplement for high school teachers - it could include a lesson plan, cover basic topics, give tips on how to start a paperless program from scratch, provide sample debates (both for analysis and flow practice). Might be a nice project for an undergraduate honors speech communication class. Send every public high school in Georgia a set over time.
